Etcetera Morris Men’s Day of Dance 2016 is nearly here! Once again we will be joined by guests from other teams from around the area to celebrate the end of another summer season of traditional English dance.
The action will get underway in the centre of Enfield Town at 10:30am.
Etcetera Morris Men are out again tonight as part of our on-going summer programme, and getting in early to mark Midsummer, which falls tomorrow. We’ll be joined this evening by old friends (that is long-standing, not necessarily aged) from Hertfordshire Holly, who will inject a bit of North West Clog Morris into our Cotswold Morris stands. You can see us at The Two Brewers in Northaw at 8:15pm, then at The Coach and Horses in Newgate Street at 9:15pm. We’ll hope to put on a show if the rain holds long enough, though you may spot us in the bar first, and afterwards, getting some much needed refreshment, given how warm it is!
Summer is here! Following a busy St George’s Day – which fell on a Saturday this year – where we danced for the Mayor of Broxbourne and people of Cheshunt at the Fun Day in Grundy Park and again at the fantastic street party organised by Jana and the team at The Wonder, just off Chase Side in Enfield, amongst other activity – our summer evening programme has begun. We’ve popped up at various places so far in the borough of Enfield on Thursday evenings. Check the Diary for where you can see us next!
Come along to the Forty Hall Farm lambing weekend today or tomorrow. It’s a great chance to see this farm on the edge of London. You’ll get a chance to see rare breed lambs, crafts, sheep shearing and us – Etcetera Morris Men.
We’ll be dancing at 1pm and 2pm on both days. It’s sure to be a great event which we are glad to be attending again this year. For more details see Forty Hall Farm’s website.
Last night saw the Etcetera Morris Men get together to look back over 2015 and a great year of fun and friends, dance, music and song.
Rather than sit about in a stuffy meeting this is now the third year that the AGM has taken place in the pub and run in parallel with a Christmas Dinner. Whilst this can make keeping the meeting under control a challenge, it means we can continue to keep our main focus of enjoying ourselves on course, with up to three courses! Thanks to The Moon Under Water in Enfield for a great evening.
Along with serious discussions about what night we should dance out during the Summer season in 2016 and the investiture of our new Squire, there were debates about whether to order another dessert and whose round it was…
We’re mid-way through the Morris fun at Enfield Market. If you missed the first spot we’re back on at 12:30pm. Come down and support your local Morris Dancing side – Etcetera Morris Men – and your local market in the glorious late, late autumn sunshine.
Thanks to to Enfield Market Instagram feed for this picture of us dancing to the tune of Ploughboy’s Dream (our own dance in the style of Fieldtown) and short video clip of us dancing Constant Billy (from Headington Quarry).
Etcetera Morris Men’s practice sessions are now in full swing – and it’s never too late to get in touch with us to attend your first practice session. We can show you the steps, the arm movements and stick clashes required, before we all head down to the pub for well earned refreshment…
If you’re not clear what Cotswold Morris Dancing is or you’ve still not seen us out and about in Enfield (where have you been?) then don’t worry, there is still another chance to catch up with us in Enfield Town in 2015 following our day out at the start of the month.
