Day of Dance 2017 and the Summer Season

Etcetera Morris Men in Kettlewell on Leeds Morris Men’s Dales Tour 2017

It’s been a good summer with many dance spots old and new.

The next thing on the horizon, after a quick trip to The Crown & Horseshoes on Thursday 31 August (from 8.15pm) is our Day of Dance in Enfield on Saturday 23 September.

We had a good time on our first visit into the woods at Swaines Green May Fair, joined the revelry in Winchmore Hill at the N21 Fest Fancy Fair, and enjoyed a maiden trip to Epping Town Show as well as being made welcome at our Thursday night summer tour spots. End of summer term night The Beehive, Bush Hill Park was memorable for its audience participation, and we enjoyed a first, but no doubt not last, visit to South Mimms.

We made a return visit to many familiar places, including a trip to Leeds Morris Men‘s Yorkshire Dales Tour, to Brookmans Park for the Rotary Club Fête, to Cheshunt for the Mayor of Broxbourne’s St. George’s Family Fun Day, a street party that day, and another night of dancing in August, at The Wonder and The Black Horse, Barnet. Thanks to all those who hosted us.

We’ve had a good summer, and soon we’ll be back to our pattern of Monday night practices, with Etcetera Folk’s English Country Dance sessions every month on the first Monday (excluding Bank Holidays when it moves a week). The first English Country Dance session is on 04 September 2017, Morris then resumes on 11 September 2017.  As ever, new members are always welcome! Check the Join In page for more details.

After that it’s all eyes on New Year’s Day 2018 – but more on that later.
